Barbeque sauce is often the most naughty condiment you might find in your cupboard. It’s normally packed with sugar, preservatives and flavourings. Eating too much of this can ruin all of your healthy eating or meal prep efforts.

We know a lot of people reading this DIY their meal prep and need a bit of flavour on their dry brown rice so, we wanted to share our healthy BBQ sauce recipe free from artificial ingredients.

This BBQ sauce will not ruin your healthy eating plan so you weight loss diet can stay on the right tracks. It's the perfect substitue sauce, designed by our nutritionist for weight loss. Eat with your own meal prep or even with sweet potato chips

BBQ sauce should be sweet and tasty or what’s the point… We would still suggest not going over the top with your servings if you are aiming to hit a calorie deficit or are eating to a macro controlled diet. As a guideline, this recipe should provide 6 portions at 35 kcal per portion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It’s not one of those no sugar, no calorie and no flavour sauces though. BBQ sauce should be sweet and tasty or what’s the point… We would still suggest not going over the top with your servings if you are aiming to hit a calorie deficit or are eating to a macro controlled diet. As a guideline, this recipe should provide 6 portions at 35 kcal per portion.

To make this delicious sauce, simply get all of the ingredients and mix them together in a bowl.

  • 120ml ketchup (we recommend using sugar-free ketchup or you can make your own using our clean ketchup recipe (click opens the recipe in a new tab)
  • 55g of honey (local honey is the best)
  • 1.5 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon liquid smoke (optional but highly recommended - Colgin liquid smoke found is most supermarkets/amazon and contains no artificial flavourings or preservatives)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder (smoked jalapeno powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
